What are some sites/tools you use for your reserach?
| Quoting stockgod |
| Quoting RiceToaster |
I find http://caps.fool.com/ very useful which provides alot of information about a stock ranging from its chart, earning stats etc... On top of that most of the stocks are rated by users like you and me. | I find Fool to be dated, like really dated. I think they have lost users, because the information on there is just too old for me. Some of the research is okay though, but the sentiment is usually way off. | Reply: Agreed MotelyFool blows balls. It has biased opinions by its actual contributors who are not really traders but "newsletter writers" Most explosive stocks are under the radar so if a thousand guys on the fool give it five stars there is a good shot the stock is not going to move.

What are your weaknesses?
I too stink at selling. I actually have some awesome set rules on selling (depending on the sytle of trade and type of stock). My weakness is adhering to them in the heat of the action. Cutting out the noise. Sometimes if I see signals in the market indicating a weakening I just jump the gun and start selling off somethings before the turn. Controlling emotion is a big part of trading and being successful in beating the market, problem for me is that Im a nutcase! How can the master of baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllliiiin still have so many winners and miss so many because of selling to early.

What are some sites/tools you use for your reserach?
| Quoting newtp | | This has always bugged me down since i'm a new trader. I want to learn how to do proper due diligence on a company but some factors always get in the way. The question that I have for anyone here is:
1. What are some sites you use to do your proper DD on a company before investing in the company? I know there is Google News and Wall Street Journal but is there any other sites you guys use? Are there any publications you read as well such as Forbes?
2. What are some strategies/tools you use to confirm if the above information is enough to make an investment in? Leigh, I asked you this before on how you came up with numbers for the daily set ups and you said you used many different things such as technicals as well as some additional strategies; do you mind sharing some of the strategies please?
3. What types of red flags do you look out for when investing in small cap or "penny" stocks to make sure they aren't boiler room type of stocks which end up being Pump and Dump schemes/(scams)?
thanks again for such a wonderful community!
(i noticed i spelled research wrong in the title. I tried to go back and edit it but it wouldn't let me. sorry for the misspelling ) |
Reply: Pump and Dumps- This is easy. Look at the longterm chart of the company. Does it go from having 10k shares in volume to 1million then back to 10k. That is the 1st sign. 2nd. then go to the balance sheet of the company or keystats on yahoo finance. Is there any real revenues? Any type of cash flow? Is there any cash?. 3rd. Start searching the internet and message boards there will be news/press releases like this "beacon equity issues report on LEI" "stockpreacher.com issues research report on $cbis" these are stock promoters who are pumping the stock Research: Is the stock in a sector thats firing (oil, alt-e, tech etc) or is the sector have the potential for a big forward move in the near future. Is there a story behind it or the sector? If your a fundamental research guy you still dont need much more than Yahoo Finance. Check the news, go to Key Stats Page which should layout the numbers in a easy to read format (sometimes they are off on the ratios but not by too much). If you really really need to dig in then go to the balance, income, cashflow sheets. Then check the chart. Is the stock ready to breakout or breaking out? Or is it on it bottom with loads of potential!

Question about the Gold Premium Membership
| Quoting Epicmmo | I was wondering if you guys could go into a little more depth about the boomfactory "trading floor." I know many people(myself included) try to follow kunal , sg , copper and ryno on twitter but miss some tweets here and there for scalp plays, etc. How will this trading floor work? Will you guys be updating it often and posting your trades your in and others with the gold premium can all go in and talk to each other? For instance...everyone here knows SG loves his apple scalps, or kunal doing one of his midday swings...will there be any kind of alert when you enter this so its easier to follow ? if we choose of course Thanks in advance!!
Reply: this will be a live chatroom. It will be badass since its realtime with no lag. For the most part a couple of us will always be on it. But when i make a scalp trade i will be watching it.. so on the chatfloor you will see my progression as im stalking the stock I will be talking it through. What Im seeing, how im feeling the order flow, the bids coming in. And as Im putting in my buy I will be posting about it on the floor so you will a realtime trade. The other good thing is often Im monitoring market conditions what Im seeing in the overall market, volume, leading stocks, breadth indicators. So I will be talking about these things because I dont put excess amounts of cash in play unless the overall market itself is showing me a signal. The chat will be interactive so if you have questions or maybe a chart you want somebody to look at we can all talk about it, have a discussion and evaluate how to play it.

Hello all Kunal00 is the name: I am a swingtrader sometimes momotrader. I am probably the best and worst trader on twitter. Ive learned the hard way through loss after loss after loss for years reading book after book after book before things started clicking for me. The last few years I have been lights out through a mix of of strategies that involve both fundamental and technical analysis. I trade for income I trade for wealth but I dont trade for a living. I have a dayjob and many of my swingtrading strategies can be adapted to the partime trader. You might be shocked by my lingo, my verbage but dont be shocked by my eggregious returns which you shall see on a daily basis. I love to teach and talk stocks so ask away on questions, love to learn new strategies too and am constantly evolving and learning so feel free to teach me! But remember I am the master of baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllliiin the godfather of booooooooom AND this website is my boom factory! http://www.bullsonwallstreet.com/blog/post/SayHellotokunal00.aspx
