Daughter's Starter Account 1 month update

Reminder: she's a student that trades before class in the mornings when she can.

This is all she is allowed to start this account with ($1994.00) on Feb 5.  The goal is to pull a consistent paycheck.  The market value of current positions is the 424.00. She's high cash so she can day trade. And yes, she day trades this account.

She's made classic new options trader mistakes: got excited, forgot to kill an order during a run, and was filled too early, entered the wrong month, missed an exit.  She must learn too; we've all been there!

This is a normal starter account amount. She'll place tax money in another vehicle to generate revenue a bit safer, while allowing the account to grow and provide her income concurrently.

I added Mar 9 update here. Note the amount of trades today.  Jocelyn's update Mar 9

Thanks for posting this! One question though. I may be incorrect on the "Patter Day Trader" rule but how is she able to day trade with less than 25K in the account? As far as I'm aware it applies to stocks and options. Is she just staying under the 4 day trades within the 5 day period?

Hi, I am very happy for you daughter but for myself I am concerned about the day trading rule before I join BOWS. Can you please respond to this concern. Is she really trading her own account and keeping within the day trading rule. Thanks for all you do. You have shared so much of yourself with new traders.

I help people get set up so they can day trade. I know the rules and I know what's not in books. She makes 3 or 4 trades on a daily basis. She has about 3k in the account. I've done this a long time.

Thank you for responding. I am aware that you teach and are very good. I just needed to know if I could trade like your daughter with only a few grand. I know I can't because I have to live by the only 3 day trades in a week because i don't have 25K. What kind of account lets her day trade 3 or 4 times a day without 25K? I can only assume her account is attached to an account that has 25K. If you know of one that would let me daytrade with under 25k that would be great and I would sign up with BOWS. Thanks.

Her account is not attached to anything--the balance is what it is. I have many starter accounts that I day trade. Part of the education in the Black Pass is how to do many things to build career traders. Yes you can day trade with a few grand.

Very helpful! I've always had the feeling there are better ways to do things. What, a dummies book and a computer aren't enough? LOL Thanks @copperstl!

O.K.thank you. I think I see now. The 3 to 4 trades a day are not round trips but held over night so they don't violate the SEC's 3 day trades a week if you don't have 25K. Thanks for responding. I really appreciate clearing things up. I just want to make sure I can participate in the trades you do and teach.

@Manojkathrani you should have no problems working this system in the Black Pass. I've known you long enough to understand your dedication to perfect criteria, build a trading plan, and trade the plan. These are done with options -and yes they are day traded....some are held overnight but most are day trades. You can see, she does not have 25k --I teach how to trade starter accounts and build.

@bellalush it is possible to make as many round trip day trades as you wish with an account under $25k, you are limited to how much buying power u have for that day though, so say if you have a 1K account you can make 2 round trip $500 trades monday then you have to wait till tuesday morning for your funds to settle to use again andd then you can do 2 $500 trades or 3 $300 or however many u want as long as u have buying power. my first month was hard learning everything but now i am making some money, God Bless

@7thesaint Wow, I am so confused.......so I just went to Ameritrade and now I think I am getting it. Here is what they say: "Any margin account that executes four or more day trades/round trips within a rolling five business days has shown a pattern of day trading. The account will be flagged as a pattern day trading account and subject to the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) Pattern Day Trading Rules. Day trade buying power is only displayed if your account has been flagged as a pattern day trader." Sooo, if I open a CASH account (NON-margin account) or just trade my cash I am not subject to these rules. I just need to have the buying power after the trades settle. And, one doesn't really need a margin account to trade options because you don't need that mush cash to make a few bucks trading options. Thank you soo much for helping me figure this out. I have been so stumped! .....I just talked to Ameritrade. It's like the vail has been lifted on my confusi
